Rant, Rant, Rant

Hey everyone-

It's Friday. Over the last few days, I've heard some really disturbing movie news and thought I would rant about it tonight.
First on my list is Peter Jackson's King Kong. I thought the original with Fay Wray was ok, but horribly overrated. I also remember thinking that it took an awful long time to get to the monkey climbing the building, and that movie is like 90 minutes. So, I was surprised to hear yesterday that Jackson's version will be 3 hours long. Seriously. The word is that the studios wanted a 2 1/2 hr. cut, but Jackson pushed for the 3 hour version, saying he would pay for the extra F/X shots himself. I'm glad to see his passion for the project, but I can't help but think of a quote from the Simpsons, where they parody King Kong. A reporter asks Mr. Burns about his show, and burns says: "Well, the ape's going to stand around for three hours or so, and then we'll close with the ethnic comedy of Duggan and Dirschwitz". At least Mr. Burns has an encore.
Still, that's not the most shocking news of the day. Moving on, I've also heard that 'ol Sly Stallone is planning on making new installments for both the Rocky series and Rambo. Rambo IV is supposed to start shooting next spring in the US and Mexico. Why, Why, Why, can't studios just let these things die? Just cause you can make a sequel doesn't mean you should. And, on that same note, the most shocking news I've heard today is that a remake of Predator is being planned starring John Freaking Cena. Now, not only is that a bad idea, but the original Predator was almost a bust. There where ego clashes and they couldn't agree on the look of the Predator. I think they should leave well enough alone, especially after the horrible Predator 2 and the disaster that was Alien Vs. Predator. Adding John Cena to this mix is like adding gasoline to the fire. I'm really hoping this doesn't pan out, or that Cena will lose on WWE and people won't like him any more. We can only hope. Well, hope all of you have a good weekend and I'll try to write soon!

Love, Andy

Monday, Monday

Hey all-

It's Monday evening. I know it's been a while since my last post. Not much is going on. The job hunt has still turned up zilch, but I have to keep looking.
I had a pretty decent weekend. On Saturday, Jeff and Dustin came by and we played some video games, went for pizza (they've got a pizza for 5$ thing at Little Ceasers). Then we watched The Naked Gun, which I hadn't seen. It was pretty funny. On Sunday, we went to Ameoba, which is a music/DVD store. Dustin was looking for a John Lennon CD which he wound up getting at Best Buy. Then, on Sunday night, we went to a 24 hour Walmart where Jeff got Barbarian Invasions.
Today, I finally get to see a new episode of Prison Break, the first in 3 weeks. That show is awesome, and I highly recommend it. It's kinda like The Shawshank Redemption meets 24. Tomorrow, Tuesday, the apartment heads are doing some kind of work on the plumbing. It means that our water will be shut off between 8am-7pm. Also, the plumbers will be coming by each apartment. They've told us that the clubhouse will be open, as well as the showers in the fitness center. YEAH, that's what I need- to take a shower in front of strangers. Well, I'm gonna call it a night. I haven't had dinner yet and am really hungry. Hope everyone has a good week if I don't make another post before then.

Love, Andy

...Where No Man Has Gone Before

Hey, everyone!

Today is Tuesday, October 11, 2005. I have been meaning to do this for some time, but haven't until now. I decided to start one of these things so people could keep up to date on what's going on with me. For this first one, I guess I should start from the beginning.
As of August, 2003, I have re-located to sunny California in the hopes of getting some kind of career in the movie buisness. The first year I was at the New York Film academy, which was a great expierience all around. The course was only one year (nine months, to be exact) so it was kind of rushed. Before I knew it, I was cast out into the world to make my fourtune. This was around June of last year.
I started working at a place in LA called Watch World, which is a division of Sunglass Hut. While working there, I finished work on a script I was writing. The end result is about 100 pages long. Since then, I've been trying to get an agent to help sell the thing, but it is proving to be difficult. In July of this year, I had to leave the Watch World job. They had transfered me out to Santa Monica, which is about 30 miles away. Not too bad, but with traffic the drive could sometimes take up to 2 hours. Finally, it got to be too much for me and I left to get a job closer to home. That was two months ago and I'm still looking...
Also, in November of last year I started dating a girl I met at Cedar Point and we're still dating today. Our anniversary is Nov. 26th. (Awww).
Recently, there's not much going on except for this job hunt which seems to be endless. This week, I did apply at Fossil @ Citywalk. For those that don't know, city walk is an outside mallattacthed to Universal Studios. I heard about it through my friend Dustin who works at a comic book store there called Things From Another World. I should hear something soon.
That's about all I've got for now. I'm not sure how often I'll be posting on here, at least untill things start to pick up again. For now, I'm gonna sign off and go watch My Name Is Earl and The Office. Woo!

So, until next time- Love, Andy
